Job Description:

The safety and industrial hygiene Senior Manager is responsible for region level workplace health, safety, and environmental programs across Intermountain Health hospitals, clinics, and shared services. In addition to directly managing an anchor facility safety program, the Senior Manager will lead and mentor a team of safety and industrial hygiene program managers across a large geography

Essential Functions

  • Accountable for control and reduction of caregiver accidents, injuries, and illness.
  • Leads enterprise level committees and working groups that support workplace safety, health, and environmental initiatives.
  • Interprets complex data and translate technical safety knowledge into actionable recommendations for senior region, market, and facility management.
  • Leverages expert knowledge of industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, ergonomics, fire/life safety, laser safety, indoor air quality, ventilation controls, respiratory protection, bioaerosols, noise, heat stress, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, blood borne pathogen, laboratory safety, workplace violence, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Demonstrated experience managing workplace safety and industrial hygiene programs
  • Masters degree in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, or engineering preferred
  • Five to ten years experience managing safety and industrial hygiene programs preferred
  • Healthcare safety and industrial hygiene experience preferred
  • Experience leading safety professionals preferred

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$43.67 - $67.41
