About us:
Cascade Hospital for Animals & Breton Village Animal Clinic in Grand Rapids, Michigan is looking for a Hospital Administrator to join our team! We are a privately owned, thirteen doctor practice that has over 90 support staff members. We offer a wide range of services that include wellness care, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation, ultrasound, endoscopy, dentistry and CT scan. We have an impressive array of equipment and facilities, and a staff of dedicated and experienced veterinarians, technicians, and assistants that practice compassionate care and quality medicine.
Position Summary:
The Hospital Administrator (HA) is responsible for ensuring that the hospital runs efficiently, providing high-quality care to animals while managing the business aspects of the veterinary practice. They will act as the bridge between the clinical staff, support personnel, and the hospital’s management. The HA works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork and accountability based on our core values.
Essential Position Functions:
Manages the Supervisors of the following departments; Pet Care Assistants, Client Care Assistants, Veterinary Assistants, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Breton Village Supervisor.
Manages Human Resource Generalist and all duties related to that position.(Payroll, Recruiting, Workers Compensation, Benefits, staff training, and addressing staff-related issues appropriately.)
Assist owners in management of IT Coordinator, Maintenance Supervisor and Marketing Coordinator.
Responsible for coordinating contracts/negotiations with insurance providers.
Direct on the job coaching to develop employee skills, advise employees of performance requirements and their progress in meeting those requirements, discuss corrective measures to improve performance, prepare and deliver performance dialogues and performance improvement plans.
Follow the correct disciplinary guidelines, policies and procedures for staff members as needed.
Achieves and maintains all labor goals.
Conducts timely one-on-ones with direct reports. Works with Supervisors to ensure timely one on ones with their direct reports.
Prepares and maintains the DVM schedules for both locations.
Assists in resolving issues with pet owners where appropriate.
Works with the Financial Administrator on financial reports, PIMS, credit card vendor, payroll analysis.
Monitors budgets, purchases equipment and supplies, and oversees the maintenance of the facility.
Administrative oversight of doctors.
Coordinates the Hospital Leadership Team and our Supervisor Leadership Team.
Communicates with consultants on quarterly and annual calibrations and planning for both teams.
Organize and conduct monthly staff meetings.

Compliance; ability to understand and manage important compliance regulations and requirements of the hospital.
Planning and prioritizing; must be able to organize work efficiently, set priorities, and establish plans and timetables for achieving goals.
Basic understanding of Human Resource issues.
Qualifications:
Five years of direct management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in business, health science or related field strongly preferred.
Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) is preferred.
May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
