Job Description
ABOUT US
Dragados USA and Flatiron, collectively known as DFJV, bring extensive transportation experience to the California High-Speed Rail Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3) project. The California High-Speed Rail Authority is overseeing the nation's first high-speed rail system, which will connect major regions, boost economic growth, promote environmental sustainability, and create jobs for small businesses and subcontractors. Construction Package 2-3 spans 65 miles across Fresno, Tulare, and Kings counties.
- Candidate must be able to work at any location within 65 mile span of project.
SALARY : $90,000-$110,000 (DOE)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment. Job sites may range from 5-50 crew members, per site.
- Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met.
- Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards.
- Assist the investigation of accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective/preventive measures.
- Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
- Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communications amongst new and existing employees.
- Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Carry out any other assigned tsks given by the Area Safety Manager or Area Project Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in safety from an accredited institution or 1 year experience as a safety professional in the construction industry.
- Team player with professional image, capable of handling highly confidential information.
- Exercise excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment that may require long hours, including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work in varied physical environments which include traveling to multiple segments, working in hot/cold conditions indoor and outdoor job sites.
- Demonstrate technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
- Clean driving record is required to operate company vehicle for travel on the job.
PREFERRED:
- 3 years construction safety experience in heavy construction (marine works, tunnel or roadway/structures/bridges).
- OSHA 30 hour construction safety trained.
- Safety trained supervisor-construction (STS-C) certified, through board of certified safety professionals.
- First aid/CPR/AED certified
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA Construction Standards, DOT safety standards, MUTCD standards, and other state and federal agency guidelines.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and make independent judgments concerning the general safety of workers, including IDLH (Immediate Danger to Life or Health) incidents.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
