Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Director(s) of Employment for Staff and Faculty, this position serves as the initial intake and review point for HR actions related to hiring, compensation, and other changes for personnel records. The Human Resources Specialist will support a broad range of routine and cyclical HR activities while collaboratively with Senior HR Generalists, Senior Personnel Technicians, and departmental/divisional liaisons regarding HR matters.
Job Description
Essential Duties:
- Process human resources actions in the ERP (Workday) and assist departments with various HR processes (e.g., position postings, employment offers).
- Ensure accurate processing of new faculty and staff hires, including orientation and onboarding.
- Assist in interpreting collective bargaining agreements, university work rules and policies, and statutory requirements related to HR actions.
- Review and analyze data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Perform audits to verify the accuracy of HR records and payroll results.
- Collaborate with other HR staff to identify and recommend solutions and resources to departmental and divisional liaisons.
- Lead training and informational sessions on HR topics as needed.

Minimim Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Psychology, or a related field with a minimum of 1 year experience; OR SHRM-CP, PHR or other HR related certifications with a minimum of 2 years experience; OR minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR related certifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate complex regulations in a clear and concise manner.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
