Job Summary and Qualifications

The Emergency Prep/Safety Officer is responsible for providing organization, structure and training for planning, developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive Emergency Management, Environment of Care and Life Safety Program for the facility. In this role:

• Serves as the Life Safety Officer and is responsible for monitoring compliance of the Physical Environment to include Life Safety and Environment of Care
• Co-chairs the Environment of Care Committee under the direction of the Associate Administrator
• Provides guidance regarding any safety improvement efforts through design recommendations, process improvement recommendations, and education
• Ensures Environment of Care and Life Safety compliance with local, federal, state, and accreditation bodies
• Enforcement of interim life safety plans and any measure of requirements associated with Infection Control Risk Assessments
• Maintains the Complyos documentation system to ensure all documents are kept up to date
• Reviews and updates policies and procedures regarding Life Safety, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management
• Directly responsible for responding to disaster and facility codes at all times

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree required
• Minimum one (1) year experience with hospital safety and/or emergency management programs
• CHSP and CHEP Certifications preferred
• FEMA/NIMS Certification required within 90 days from hire
